Another dramatic, well-thought title!

Haven’t updated much because I’ve been busy at kanji and with Japanese in general. A couple of notes for prayer, if you’re a prayer person:

  1. Family: Financial crunch. We would use some encouragement and prayer here. Gas and food prices are starting to really hurt, just like everyone else.
  2. Japanese: Registration for the JLPT4 starts in a few weeks, and I need $40.
  3. Japanese: Having a difficult time remembering the different between これは、それは、 and some of the possessives like それの and かれの. I’m not sure of the best way to commit them to memory, but I know that I need some sort of system to keep them in place!

Thanks for stopping by. I know I don’t update much any more, but I am devoting every moment I can carve out of the week to learning Japanese. Jesus called it ‘being about his Father’s business’, and like I said before, this has the clear marks of destiny on it. It’s a lot of work, but I am enjoying it.

Now back to the kanji. I’m 950 kanji into the book, and the halfway mark is within sight. God bless!

There are two stages, “this” and “that” in case of English, but in case of Japanese has added “it” so Japanese has three stages. “これは” in Japanese points “close to speakers” and “それは” does “far from listeners” and “あれは” does “far from speakers and listeners”…OK? O! feeling sleepy.

Just focus on the あ-, そ-, and こ- prefixes, and do whatever you need to do to remember that the first one means “over there, away from me and you,” the second one means “over where you are,” and the third means “near where I am.” これは, それは, あれは, この, その, あの, ここ, そこ, あそこ, etc. are just Japanese grammar built on top of these prefixes. Once you can tel あ- from そ- and こ-, the rest of it just falls in place.

OK, now THAT makes sense. Thank you.
